I heard this quote years ago, and it stuck with me.
“WHAT YOU FOCUS ON EXPANDS!”
I was in my early thirties when I realized that life would not always go my way. Many times, it wouldn’t. So, I had to learn to shift my perspective quickly and for my own good.
I could easily focus on the negative and wallow in self-pity, anger, and frustration, only to get more of the same, or I could find the positive, look for the lesson and purpose in the situation, and move on to better days. Most of the time, I chose to do the latter. (Usually, it was after I had my pity party.)
Many leaders get so focused on what’s going wrong in their company that they fail to see everything going right. What we focus on expands. If you want more of the good, focus on it—better yet, communicate it, spotlight it, and celebrate it! Let’s edit the statement above to read this way…
